ACCESS TO HEALTH

Most rural areas are located more than 30 kilometers from a health center. This condition, added to the scarce resources in the area, makes it difficult to achieve adequate health control for the people who live there, hindering the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of possible pathologies.

Within this framework, we develop a comprehensive health program that covers medical care in different specialties, carrying out studies, creating and equipping health posts and training in different health topics for rural residents.

In addition, we create links with each family to strengthen communities’ access to local health care, so that they can have their right guaranteed without having to travel more than 10 kilometers.

The actions within the framework of this program are the following:

• Creation and strengthening of rural health posts
• Supply of medicines to rural health posts
• Delivery of medications to patients with chronic diseases
• Medical care in different specialties, in coordination with different public and civil society organizations
• Ophthalmology with delivery of glasses
• Workshops on different health topics for rural residents
• Nutritional control
• Ultrasounds
• Shift management with specialists
• Wheelchair management

Rural health posts

Due to the demand of families to have primary health care, faced with the difficulty of traveling to the nearest hospital, we built health posts with the support of the local public hospital, thus facilitating the inhabitants' access to the health system.

Medical care

We receive health specialists to provide rural medical care in the following specialties: ophthalmology, dentistry, nutrition, pediatrics and clinical medicine. It is also accompanied in carrying out necessary clinical studies.

Nutrition

We strengthen the food security and healthy nutrition of rural families through nutritional care for boys and girls; in addition to training the people in charge as active agents in the adoption of healthy eating habits.

Health Workshops

We hold participatory workshops to inform the population about health care and disease prevention. We work on different axes, such as: 1) improving the quality of life through comprehensive health care proposals; 2) Self-esteem and emotional education; 3) Women's rights and children's rights.
